Icon Blue Volunteers at Children’s Institute, Inc. Summer Camp Kickoff
LOS ANGELES (July 25, 2017) – As part of Honda’s National Week of Service, Icon Blue spent June 15 at Children’s Institute, Inc. (CII) in order to support their Summer Camp Kickoff. Located in Los Angeles on West Temple Street, Children’s Institute, Inc. is an organization dedicated to helping children whose lives have been affected by trauma. Through CII’s early education, clinical, and foster youth programs they ensure over 20,000 children in Los Angeles “recover to lead healthy and happy lives.”
“Children’s Institute is so pleased to join partners and associates of American Honda for the company’s National Week of Service. We can’t think of a better way to leverage our efforts to strengthen the communities we serve!”
-Martine Singer, President and CEO, Children’s Institute, Inc.
The day was a fun start to CII’s summer program that takes place between school years. This particular event served children aged 7-10, and provided a variety of entertaining and creative activities. From carnival toss games and moonbounces, to a “spin-art” machine that helped give an introduction to abstract art, the day was full of merriment (and popcorn!). The Icon Blue employees split into two teams to assist with both morning and afternoon shifts at the kickoff. In each of the three-hour blocks, Icon Blue members worked with other volunteers and staff of Children’s Institute, Inc. in activities and to chaperone.
“A core facet of Icon Blue is our commitment to good corporate citizenship. We thank the Children’s Institute for the opportunity to support their Summer Camp Kickoff as part of the Honda Week of Service!”
-Eden McClellan, President and COO of Icon Blue
